When This System Fits
This system is intended for stone-processing wastewater where saw fines, polishing dust and other mineral solids must be separated from process water. It can be considered for workshops or plants that need a controlled route from collection points to settling, pressure filtration, cake handling and reuse. The correct arrangement depends on slurry concentration, particle size, density, additives, operating hours and the required water destination.
- Define each wastewater source separately: cutting, polishing, floor washdown or mixed streams.
- Keep coarse debris and unexpected objects out of pumps and filter plates through appropriate upstream screening or a settling arrangement.
- Separate clean utility water from process water where this improves control of the recycle loop.
- Plan a safe route for filter cake collection; dewatering is not thermal drying.
| System question | Information to confirm before selection |
|---|---|
| Water destination | Internal reuse, further treatment or controlled discharge; acceptance criteria must be stated. |
| Solids route | Cake storage, collection, transport and any later use or disposal responsibility. |
| Operating pattern | Number of shifts, batch or continuous generation, daily operating window and peak events. |
| Material | Stone type, density, abrasive content, particle-size distribution, pH and any processing aids. |
How the Process Modules Connect
The usual physical route is source collection to an equalization or settling stage, then controlled slurry feeding to a filter press. The press separates filtrate through cloth and plates while solids form a cake. Filtrate is routed to a designated return-water tank or downstream treatment point. The cake is released only after the filtration cycle has ended and the equipment is in a safe state, then it is transferred to the agreed storage or handling area.
A pump, polymer-dosing arrangement or cake conveyor may be included only when the material and operating method justify it. Automatic controls can coordinate valves, feed and cycle sequence, but operators still inspect tanks, observe abnormal conditions, manage cake handling and follow site safety procedures. Automation and a membrane squeeze stage are different decisions and are not mutually exclusive.
Main Equipment Modules and Site Interfaces
The feed section connects the selected pump and pipework to the press inlet. The pump must be reviewed against slurry density, solids content, particle size, distance, elevation and the press cycle. Polymer dosing is optional and requires material testing and compatible equipment review.
The filter press, plates and cloths provide the separation zone. Plate size, chamber arrangement, cloth style, material compatibility and any squeeze or washing connections are confirmed for the actual slurry. A return-water line, isolation points, sampling points and an accessible cake-drop area make the system easier to operate and troubleshoot.
| Interface | Site preparation or decision owner |
|---|---|
| Civil works | Customer or appointed contractor confirms foundations, tanks, drainage, access and load assumptions. |
| Piping | Project team confirms source lines, feed line, filtrate return, valves, sampling and clean-out points. |
| Electrical | Customer confirms local supply, protection, cable routing, earthing and control-panel location. |
| Cake handling | Customer confirms safe collection height, container or conveyor interface and removal route. |
| Water quality | Owner defines reuse or discharge criteria and arranges any required laboratory verification. |
Data Needed for a Practical System Proposal
Also state the desired operating schedule, available floor area, height restrictions, power standard, preferred control boundary, water reuse point, cake destination and access for maintenance. These details allow Shengqi and the project team to distinguish filtration area, chamber volume, feed conditions and actual plant throughput instead of treating them as interchangeable. Where the evidence is incomplete, the proposal should list the item for confirmation or testing, not insert an assumed capacity, pressure, cake moisture, service life or delivery time.
- Submit a representative sample or arrange a slurry filtration test when the material varies significantly.
- Mark normal and peak wastewater generation and identify whether streams can be segregated.
- Provide site drawings with elevations, tank positions, vehicle access and maintenance clearance.
- Confirm which party owns civil works, utilities, control integration, operator training and final water testing.
Installation, Commissioning and Operating Boundaries
Maintenance and Replacement Planning
Keep a record of cycle observations, feed behavior, leakage points, cloth cleaning and plate condition. Inspect sealing surfaces and cloth installation when filtrate quality changes or external leakage appears. A replacement plate or cloth should be matched from the equipment nameplate, dimensions, hole positions, sealing profile, material and operating conditions; photographs of both sides and the handles are useful. The replacement-parts team should review these details before supply.
| Observation | First controlled check |
|---|---|
| Filtrate becomes cloudy | Check cloth seating, feed condition, plate sealing and the relevant sampling point. |
| Cycle becomes longer | Review feed solids, pump behavior, cloth blinding, chamber filling and control sequence. |
| Cake will not release | Stop safely and inspect cloth condition, cake properties and discharge mechanism; do not force the plate pack. |
| Unexpected leakage | Stop according to the site procedure, isolate and depressurize before examining plates, seals and cloths. |
How to Start a Stone Wastewater Project
Send the process description, slurry data, site photographs or drawings and the intended water and cake routes to Andy. Shengqi can then clarify which modules are in scope, what must be tested, which interfaces remain with the customer and which replacement or auxiliary items should be quoted. Record assumptions and open confirmations instead of unsupported performance numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this page a guarantee of treated-water quality?
No. The owner must define reuse or discharge criteria, and the system arrangement and any verification testing must be agreed for the actual stone wastewater.
Does a stone wastewater system always need polymer dosing?
Not necessarily. Dosing depends on slurry behavior and the required separation result. It should be considered only after material review or testing and with compatible equipment and operating controls.
Can the filter press be connected directly to every workshop drain?
Not without review. Source segregation, debris control, collection volume, settling behavior, pumpability and the peak flow must be checked before the connections are finalized.
Does pressure filtration dry the stone cake completely?
No. A filter press performs mechanical solid-liquid separation. Any further drying is a separate operation with separate equipment, energy and acceptance criteria.
What should we send for an initial quotation?
Send slurry or process data, normal and peak flow with units, solids information, pH and temperature, site layout, water and cake destinations, utility details and representative photos or samples.
