This flow covers specification and supply confirmation. It does not combine cloth washing, filter-cake washing or press operating cycles; installation and any inspection must follow the equipment manufacturer's isolation and safety procedure.
When to Choose Custom Filter Cloths
Custom specification is useful when a standard replacement cloth does not clearly match the plate, when an older press has unusual openings, or when a defined slurry problem requires a documented material or construction review. It is also suitable for new equipment when the plate drawing is available but the cloth pattern is not finalized.
The objective is a cloth that fits the plate, seals at the intended surfaces and can be installed without changing the press. A material or weave change is a technical choice, not a guaranteed improvement; review the original cloth, slurry and operating observations before approval.
- Confirm plate type before cutting: recessed, membrane or another arrangement.
- Separate a like-for-like replacement from a performance-change request.
- Do not infer pressure, throughput, cake moisture or service life from appearance alone.
| Decision point | Information to confirm |
|---|---|
| Fit | Plate length, width, thickness, chamber depth and the installed cloth layout |
| Openings | Center hole, corner holes, neck dimensions, port position and any feed or filtrate path |
| Fixing | Hanging, snap, tie, eyelet, button, clamp or other attachment method |
| Change objective | Like-for-like replacement or a documented change for solids retention, release, washing or cleaning |
What Is Specified
A custom cloth specification combines the filter medium with its manufactured geometry. Material and construction depend on chemical compatibility, temperature, particle size, cake release, wash practice and the existing plate. Polypropylene is one available material, but it should not be selected without service information.
The drawing or sample should show finished dimensions, sealing margins, center or corner openings, necks, drainage details, stitched hems and fixing points. Photograph and label both sides when they differ.
- Confirm polymer, weave or yarn information when known and state the reason for any proposed change.
- Record finished length and width, openings, folds, overlap allowances and chamber-facing shape.
- Identify hems, seams, reinforcement, thread, neck construction and fitting direction.
- State the press, plate type, quantity and whether sample approval is required.
Measurement and Confirmation Process
Start with the equipment nameplate and plate. Photograph the complete plate, both faces, side profile, handles, sealing surfaces, feed and filtrate holes, and attachment points. Mark every measurement with its location and unit. Do not assume a stretched loose cloth represents the original finished size; compare it with the plate.
After review, Shengqi identifies missing dimensions and clarifies operating conditions. A drawing or sample confirms the cut and sewn details. For an existing press, approve a sample or drawing before larger-quantity production.
| Step | Customer action | Review result |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Identify | Send nameplate, press model if known, plate type and quantity | The equipment and plate family are recorded |
| 2. Photograph | Send labeled front, back, side, openings, sealing and fixing photos | The visible geometry and missing views are checked |
| 3. Measure | Record length, width, thickness, chamber depth, holes, neck and fixing positions | Dimensions are compared with the plate rather than treated as assumptions |
Like-for-Like Replacement or Performance Change
A like-for-like request aims to reproduce the original pattern and material as closely as available evidence allows. It is the safer starting point when the press is operating acceptably and only the consumable is worn. An improvement request should state its objective, such as blinding, cake release, edge leakage or washing difficulty.
Changing construction can affect filtrate clarity, cycle behavior, cake release and cleaning. It does not guarantee a result. Provide operating data and discuss a sample or filtration test when the consequence matters.
- Keep the original cloth for comparison and label its plate position.
- Describe when the problem occurs and whether it affects all plates.
- Do not use a cloth change to mask damaged sealing surfaces or unresolved feed conditions.
Installation and Care Checks
Before installation, compare the delivered cloth with the approved drawing or sample. Check face orientation, openings, neck depth, seam direction, fixing points and sealing margins. Clean seating surfaces and inspect the plate. The cloth must lie flat without folds, trapped solids or misplaced tension.
During the first cycle, observe feed and filtrate paths, edge sealing and cake release under the manufacturer's safe procedure. Stop and isolate energy before inspection or replacement. Never open under pressure, perform live electrical work or bypass an interlock.
| Check | Acceptance question |
|---|---|
| Orientation | Is the filtration face and the opening layout aligned with the approved pattern? |
| Sealing | Are hems, margins and plate sealing surfaces seated without folds or trapped solids? |
| Fixing | Are every neck, button, tie, eyelet or clamp installed as specified? |
| Condition | Are seams intact and free from cuts, pulled threads or shipping damage? |
Information for a Custom Cloth Quotation
Send the press and plate identity, quantity, original cloth or drawing, labeled photographs and measured fields. Add slurry and operating notes affecting material selection. If measurements are incomplete, the quotation should identify confirmation items rather than present an unverified size or performance promise.
For dimensions, use the filter plate and cloth measurement guide. Contact Andy at Shandong Shengqi Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd. through the quotation form or WhatsApp at +86 15116183980.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a custom cloth be made from only the filter-plate size?
No. Plate length and width are only part of the pattern. Openings, necks, sealing margins, fixing points, plate type, chamber depth and sewing details must also be confirmed. A nameplate, photographs and a drawing or sample reduce the risk of an incorrect fit.
Can you change the cloth material to solve poor filtration?
A material or weave change may be considered, but poor filtration can also result from slurry behavior, feed conditions, plate sealing, cloth blinding or cleaning. Provide the original cloth and operating observations so the change can be reviewed rather than assumed to guarantee a result.
Do you need an original cloth sample?
A sample is helpful, especially when a drawing is unavailable or the cloth has special sewing and openings. If no sample can be supplied, clear labeled photographs, measurements and a plate drawing may be used for an initial review.
